Mr. Jacobs is just trying his best.

Wanting to impress a small Ohio community when he’s hired to take over the drama department at the local high school, Mr. Jacobs holds auditions for Romeo and Juliet. It’s cast, but he must deal with two mean girls trying to get him fired, a love story gone wrong, the typical high school actor, someone potentially using drugs, stage fright, a clumsy stage crew, and a principal who will not accept failure. Oh, and he only has three weeks to do the thing.

“The script takes a bit of a shotgun approach, hitting all over the place stylistically, from Monty Pythonesque breaks in continuity to high school society caricatures, from real dramatic tension all the way to group dance numbers. It's the wide range that makes it work. Much of the humor travels the well-worn paths of stereotypical characters, but the element of creative mischief means that nothing can be taken for granted, as the whole thing might get turned on its ear at any moment. ... Meeker has all the makings of a successful director/writer/actor and the ambition to make it happen.” - Mark Jordan, Mount Vernon News
