Residency at the Access Theater Begins in 2018

I have been officially selected as one of the artists for the 2017-2018 Artist Residency Program for the Access Theater in New York City! This is the second year of the program, which is designed for a mixture of established and emerging theater makers to develop a piece of work. I will be officially working with the theater from March 1, 2018 - August 31, 2018.

AT THE BARRE

Even though the residency is under my name, I am so excited to continue working with the incredibly talented Matthew Gittins on our new mime musical At the Barre

At the Barre is a mime musical based off a series of mime vignettes entitled Very Strong Liking. Very Strong Liking premiered on August 5, 2017 at the Midtown International Theatre Festival. The cast included Olivia Crawford, Maddy Baker, Douglas Reitsma, Jessica Toltzis, and Steven Meeker Jr.

At the Barre clashes the traditional golden age love story musical with a plethora of different styles including mime, ballet, stage combat, and clowning. At the Barre tells the story through two mimed characters (Catherine and Shawn) as their Inner Selves give them a voice and guide the audience through the story.

I can't wait to begin this incredible journey. Thank you to my family and friends for their constant support. Thank you to the Bells, as well as Rick, Lorie, and Stephen, for giving me the love for mime. Thank you Otterbein Department of Theatre & Dance and NTI  for the training. Thank you to Sarah Norris and the Access Theater for the opportunity. Thank you Matt for your constant inspiration.

Let's do this!
